    Empowered in Identity

I love the hashtag and movement in social media “Empowered Women Empower Women.” It’s so wonderful that the world itself is recognising and rectifying the influence that we can have on one another to uplift, strengthen, encourage and inspire. While I embrace this sentiment and have even used it a few times myself, God revealed a much deeper level of significance of this quote to me recently (and not just for us sisters!) – a depth defined only in him and his truths. While there is definitely potency in this phrase as it is being used around the world today, I believe God has a more powerful call for us…

    Ophelia’s Birth Story

Let me begin by saying that I LOVE giving birth. I know, I’m crazy! But I really, truly love it and the entire pregnancy feels worthwhile knowing that it’s building towards that amazing moment where I will go into labour and birth my child – meeting them for that first precious encounter where I lift their gooey, floppy body onto my chest and gaze into their tiny newborn eyes as they look around trying to adjust to this foreign world they have been brought into. All the highs and oxytocin vibes! This being my fourth child, I began the pregnancy as excited as always and would lay my head down…

Your Story is in Your Struggle

Our family is currently OBSESSED with the film, The Greatest Showman. The movie is played often and the soundtrack is blasted everyday much to the joy of the little people singing and dancing their hearts out (oh ok…maybe some big people too!). If you haven’t seen this Hugh Jackman film yet…you need to! Not only will it entertain you until you are bursting with joy and inspiration, but it is such a powerful and beautiful celebration of humanity. Personally, I listen to the soundtrack myself everyday…as worship!!! I could easily preach a thousand messages on each song as they are so prophetic and proclaim the message of hope, identity, abundant…

    The Healing Path To Freedom

Since the beginning of last year, God has been doing a mighty and powerful work in me that is leading me into the most profound healing and freedom of my entire life. I have been crying out to him for this breakthrough for a long time, years even. I don’t know what it was that sparked the beginning of this revelatory inner transformation, but I certainly know it wasn’t anything I did on my behalf. Although I faithfully and continually asked him to set me free from the pain I was walking through, from the the darkness of the valley I seemed to have set up camp in, and from…

    Expect the Unexpected!

I have had this message burning in me for MONTHS! But it’s a good thing I haven’t written it until now, because little did I know ten months ago when it began stirring inside of me, that the greatest outpouring and revelation was yet to come. So I’m going to start at the end…but the beauty is that this end is really only the beginning of what is to come. Four weeks ago today we gave birth to our third child, Fleur Grace. This was no ordinary birth (as none of ours seem to be!), as we accidentally delivered her at home, by ourselves, on our bathroom ensuite floor, after…

    Arise and Shine!

I know right, it’s been a while since my last post. 8 months to be exact. My bad. I could rattle off a list of every valid reason, excuse, difficulty, time constraint, life problem etc etc, but hey, here I am now, back and ready to go again and with so many words burning within me just dying to escape through my fingertips! I find it ironic that one of my last posts was It’s Time to Flourish, where I shared my conviction of how the season of winter was over and spring had finally sprung, ready for us to step into, encounter and flourish, and how I had such…

I Am Not a Big Deal

Hey Mamas, have you seen the Instagram #iamnotabigdeal phenomenon? It’s a movement gaining momentum where we remind one another that our Insta life is NOT our reality! You know that gorgeous pic of your girlfriend who has six kids and she’s impeccably dressed with salon-worthy hair, flawless makeup, and looks ridiculously, peacefully calm and collected and you wonder…dayum, how does she do it? Then you look at yourself in your trackies with spew all over you, your kids breakfast matted in your hair (which you haven’t washed in a week), and makeup? What’s that?!?! Meanwhile you can’t even contain your one and only child who is running riot, trashing your…

    Soldiers Arise

In my pre-kid life I had these perfect ideals of being so gender neutral as a parent, not to push anything one way or another onto either my boys or girls. And I still try and hold onto that, except…well…my son is a complete and utter boys boy! Rugged, masculine, warrior-like, fighting, energetic, outdoors, cars, trains, planes, mechanical, engineering kind of guy. To the core. Neither my husband or myself are this way inclined, so thank goodness for uncles and grandfathers in our lives! “You want to go camping?!?!?! Papa will take you!” “You want to build a car engine?!?! Ask Uncle Andrew!” “You want to learn martial arts? Thank…

    It’s Time to Flourish!

I have such an excitement in my spirit lately! Such an overwhelming sense of anticipation and a hopeful heart. Not because of anything in particular. Nothing has changed in my circumstances, situations in my life remain the same, but I just have this increasing feeling of joyful expectation. To be honest, I have had a terrible year so far. Back in January I had high hopes and bold dreams, but so far, this year has seemed to bring me nothing but disappointment and discouragement. Yet, here I am, mid-August, with a sudden sense of expectation that things are turning around, things are going to be good. Not just good, but…

    Divine Destiny

You were planned. You were designed. You were desired. You were intentionally created. You were given a destiny, call, purpose and plan even before you were conceived. I’m not talking about your earthly parents….because chances are some, if not all of these things, may not have been on their agenda. In the beginning of time, before the earth was even created, God desired you. He desired a child of his own, just like you. He had billions and billions of other children in his mind and heart, but there was one specific child who was different from all of the rest. One unique individual who had the personality, temperament, qualities,…
