It’s Time to Flourish!

I have such an excitement in my spirit lately! Such an overwhelming sense of anticipation and a hopeful heart. Not because of anything in particular. Nothing has changed in my circumstances, situations in my life remain the same, but I just have this increasing feeling of joyful expectation. To be honest, I have had a terrible year so far. Back in January I had high hopes and bold dreams, but so far, this year has seemed to bring me nothing but disappointment and discouragement. Yet, here I am, mid-August, with a sudden sense of expectation that things are turning around, things are going to be good. Not just good, but great. No, not even great…they are going to be exceedingly above and beyond everything I can hope, think, ask or imagine (Eph 3:20). Just secretly, some days I feel so ridiculously stupidly excited that I break out in (borderline hysterical) laughter. For no. Known. Reason.

So I’m guessing my spirit is onto something and my mind and body will catch up eventually. I’m guessing my spirit is sensing all that God has been doing, planning and preparing in the unseen. All of those promises he has been whispering to my soul for weeks, months and years, all of the prophetic words that have been accumulating over time and all pointing in the one direction. I truly believe all of these things are being created, polished, completed in the spirit and are about to manifest into my reality. Real soon!

But this isn’t just for me. It’s for you, too.

I love spring. I love summer even more, it’s my favourite time of the year! I love nothing more than sizzling beachy mornings with slow walks along the esplanade, or days out in the boat on the water. I love long leisurely lunches with family and friends – vibrant salads, decadent fruits, fresh fish, crisp wines. I love afternoons with our favourite people that roll on late into the balmy twilight hours with the warm breeze still singing of summertime even through the dark of the night. I love waking up to open windows with light, white curtains daintily blowing and welcoming me into another beautiful day. To me, summer is the prime of the year, the highlight that I look forward to every 12 months. And that’s why I love spring! Because spring signals ‘summertime!’ Spring is like the trumpet blare that loudly declares SUMMER IS COMING!

Every single year, since I was a little girl, my senses are joyfully awakened to the first blossoms of jasmine. It seems like such a simple thing, but I get so excited every time I see the first buds on the climbing vines. I have to pick a small bunch every time and put it next to my bed so that the sweet aroma fills my room and my nostrils. You know how smells can have memories? Well, for me, jasmine is a scent that conjures up the excitement and anticipation that I was describing earlier.

It’s funny that I’ve been feeling this excited anticipation lately, because this week I discovered my first blossoms of jasmine for the spring. The second I took a deep, long breath of the fragrant flowers for the first time this year, I heard God speak so beautifully.

I was reminded of his promises and his faithfulness. He told me that just like the seasons are certain to come, so is the fulfilment of his Word and his promises. The more I stood there and breathed in his creation, he instilled within me an increased reassurance that a new season is coming, in fact, the new season is here. The cold, dark, dreary days are over and just like spring comes after every winter and leads to the prime of summer, so too are we as his Bride, stepping into a season of spring with the great anticipation of the climax of summer.

As if this moment wasn’t enough, I sat down later that night to read through Song of Songs. These were the words that the Holy Spirit revealed to me!

Arise my dearest.
Hurry my darling.
Come along with me!
I have come as you have asked
To draw you out.
For now is the time my beautiful one.

The season has changed,
The bondage of your winter has ended,
And the season of hiding is over and gone.
The rains have soaked the earth
And left it bright with blossoming flowers.

Can you not discern
This new day of destiny
Breaking forth all around you?
The early signs of my purposes and plans
Are bursting forth.
The budding vines of new life
Are now blooming everywhere.
The fragrance of flowers whispers,
‘There is change in the air.”

Arise my love, my beautiful companion,
And run with me to a higher place.
For now is the time to arise
And come away with me.

Song of Songs 2:10-13 (The Passion Translation)

The fragrance of flowers whispers ‘there is change in the air!’ THAT is why I get excited every spring, because the jasmine promises me that change is just around the corner, better days are ahead, fruitfulness, abundance and overflow are coming! I don’t doubt the seasons. I don’t doubt them because I have past experience with them. After every winter comes a summer. Every single time. And in just the same way, I don’t have to doubt God’s faithfulness and goodness, I just have to look at my past experience and the experience and testimony of others and of his Word. So many verses throughout scripture tell the Israelites to REMEMBER! Remember how he saved our ancestors from Egypt?! Remember how he miraculously opened the Red Sea for them to walk through on dry ground?! Remember how he swallowed their enemies who were pursuing them?! Remember how he provided for them in the wilderness?! Remember how he brought them into the Promised Land?! It may have been a journey, a seriously long one, but he did it! He fulfilled his promises and his word to them and he will do the same for us.

I believe the Bride has crossed over into a season of spring and the glorious prime of summer is about to manifest. We may not be seeing it in our circumstances, our outlook may look like an icy winter, but just as spring undoubtably comes, the frost is about to be melted away and new life born, new buds blossom and bear fruit of years and years of faithfulness to holding onto his promises. It is time to flourish.

The words of Song of Songs and the book of Esther are increasing and increasing: For such a time as this. For such a time as THIS! NOW is the time! NOW is the season. The season has changed, the switch has flipped, the people of God are arising and taking their place, all around the world, in all areas of culture and in all places of influence. The people of God have been prepared and position and in the blink of an eye we are going to see that we are here, we are in our Promised Land!

For such a time as this

And that is when it gets exciting, because then we’ll really start seeing his Kingdom come and his will being done. We have been born into an exciting time. So many people look at the days we are in and are filled with dread and fear and accept a frightful fate. But just as the Bible speaks of the horrors of the end days, it speaks even louder of his glory in those days!

For such a time as this. You have been born for such a time as this, placed on this earth and in this age, for such a time as this. NOW is your moment. NOW is your season. ARISE! Arise and come away with your Beloved as he woos you into the secret place. Remember his words, remember his promises, remember his prophecies, for you have stepped into the season of breakthrough and manifestation.

Your Promised Land is closer than you realise.
